Discovering the World
On 22 February, the Savonian Campus Heart was filled with multiple languages and cultures at the Discover World event, where Savonian exchange students, exchange students currently studying with us here and Savonian people working in internationalisation presented various exchange study opportunities. EU4DUAL guests and other partners who were visiting Savonia for the International Staff Week also visited the event.
During the event, students shared information to other students about exchange opportunities, giving them the opportunity to learn about Savonia’s international partners and how to include internationality to their studies.
At the country-specific stands, interested people were introduced to the culture and higher education institutions of several countries. In Slovenia’s stand, Manca Kastelic Hervd and Marko Višček talked about their home country Slovenia.
-We came to Kuopio and Savonia at the beginning of the year. We were interested in going on exchange because we wanted to learn something completely new and see completely different environments. In Finland, we have really been able to experience something new! We don’t have winters like this in Slovenia, even if it does snow sometimes, said Manca and Marko.
They both study at the University of Novo Mesto, a relatively young university, founded in 2017.
– Novo mesto is a rather small university and in many respects we are still in the process of building and developing the university. We strongly recommend an exchange in Slovenia, and if you can’t find a suitable degree programme at Novo Mesto, there are plenty of options at other universities. Slovenia is a small country with a lot of potential. We have a lot of beautiful nature, which offers great opportunities for hiking, trekking, swimming and other outdoor activities in your free time.
