Higher Education Module: Sustainable Future (Master level) 15-30 ECTS
Sustainable Future online studies build up your master level knowledge regarding future-orientated sustainable development. Studies include six courses concerning climate change, green transition in technology, human security and one health approach.
Studying the online courses gives you knowledge in accordance with the European Green Deal. The European Commission has adopted a set of proposals to make the EU’s climate, energy, transport and taxation policies fit for reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030, compared to 1990 levels.
European Green Deal objectives are:
- no net emissions of greenhouse gases by 2050
- economic growth decoupled from resource use
- no person and no place left behind
The selection of online courses is interdisciplinary, and therefore you can select courses that meet best your personal needs. To achieve the Sustainable Future Open Badge, enroll in and complete at least 3 courses (a total of 15 ects credits).
Target Group
Persons who need master-level knowledge in the interdisciplinary Sustainable Development for their work, or personal career development.
Prerequisites
Bachelor’s program degree studies or equivalent.
Contents
Sustainable Future Higher Education Module consists of six courses:
- Digital Green Technology Industry 5 ECTS (nonstop online course 15.9.-31.7.)
- Low-Carbon Technology Industry 5 ECTS (nonstop online course 15.9.-31.7.)
- One Health 5 ECTS (online course spring 2025)
- Alternative Energy Sources and Greenhouse Gas Free Energy Production 5 ECTS (online course spring 2025)
- Circular Economy 5 ECTS (online course spring 2025)
- Human Security in the Climate Crisis Context 5 ECTS (online course spring 2025)

Registration and Price
Registration: Registration period begins on 1st of August in Open UAS Study Calendar. You can register to the study module or individual courses.
Price: The price of the higher education module is 300 euros (10 euros/ECTS). The price of individual courses is 15 euros/ECTS. One course costs 75 euros. The course-specific fee is paid upon registration.
Open studies are free of charge for Savonia graduates for one year after graduation.
How to Study?
The selection of online courses is interdisciplinary, and therefore you can select courses that meet best your personal needs. To achieve the Sustainable Future Open Badge, enroll in and complete at least 3 courses (a total of 15 ects credits).
Assignments in the online courses are prepared independently based on the study material. There are several alternative deadline dates to submit the assignments within the courses’ implementation period.
