Description | The Vireo research project investigates the suitability of XR technologies for remote use and job guidance. XR technologies are broadly understood from virtual and augmented/mixed reality to metaverse technologies. The subject of the research are technical and usability requirements and technology demonstrations, where the applicability of technologies is evaluated from usability and user experiences point of view. The project's technology demonstrations are developed based on the expectations of the companies that joined the project. The technology demonstrations aim to seek, together with companies, a better understanding of the application possibilities of XR technologies with their benefits and limitations. The project's technology demonstrations will be tested with business partners either in laboratory conditions or in industrial conditions at a destination specified by the companies. Test results will be published at conferences and/or scientific journals, and the developed demonstrations will be freely available to all operators. The purpose of the research project is to renew the industry by bringing new solutions for the use of augmented and virtual reality in the remote operation and monitoring of various machines and devices, as well as in the guidance of work phases. The project will be implemented nationally and the participating research organizations are Turku UAS from Varsinais-Suomi and Savonia UAS from Pohjois-Savo. |
