| Description | Textile Side Stream project (regional textile side streams and post-consumer textile waste in North Savo) investigates and develops companies' transition to circular economy: the reuse and retention of side stream and end-of-life textiles, and the prevention of textile waste in the whole value chain.The aim of the project is to find out how companies' textile side streams and post-consumer textile waste could be utilised regionally. The project will develop the operating environment and operating methods, and how companies could utilise post-consumer and side stream textiles in their business operations.The need for the projectNorth Savo needs research and development to promote the transition to circular economy in companies and their operating environment. The aim of the transition to circular economy is to produce products with a high degree of added value and to make resource-efficient use of textile materials before they end up in waste disposal.The EU Waste Directive and the EU Textile Strategy require the multiple ways usage of textile side streams and post-consumer textile waste. The Waste Act will enter into force in Finland in early 2023, when companies will have to organise the reuse, collection and recycling of their textile side stream and post-consumer textile waste themselves.There is a lack of vision on the transition to circular economy in the textile sector in North Savo and on the reuse and utilisation of side stream and post-consumer textile waste. The side streams of the operating environment of the regional textile industry and the quantity, quality, distribution channels and reuse rate of consumer textiles, as well as resource efficiency, need to be investigated and developed.The project examines actors and operating environment, as well as how the regional network of side streams and post-consumer textile waste and their business opportunities could be developed.The study of digital solutions, their service paths and development of the operating environment is part of the investigation. The project includes physical and digital demonstrations related to the transition to circular economy and the operating environment, as well as the development of circular economy business models. |
| Partners | Hanketoteutetaan yhteistyössä Elävä säätiön kanssa. SAUMA-hanke keskittyy samoin tavoittein kuluttajatekstiilien osalta.
Hankkeen osarahoittajat ja osallistujat ovat: Valmet, Varpuke, VA-varuste, Scantarp, Minna Suuronen, Ompelimo Uniikki, Hiia, Heliko, Citypörssi ja Jätekukko. Kohderyhmänä ovat tekstiili- ja vaatealalla toimivat yritykset Pohjois-Savon alueella. Hankkeesta hyötyvät kaikki tekstiili- ja vaatealan yritykset Pohjois-Savossa ja Suomessa sen tiedon kautta mitä hankkeesta saavutetaan. M |
