| Description | The aim of the project is to build, and test run a novel pilot scale continuous thermal biomass reactor with an input capacity of 60-90 kg/h and about 20-30 kg/h at the outlet of biochar. The reactor allows collection of solid (torrefied or pyrolyzed biomass) and liquid components (condensed distillates from different phases at different temperatures) and would be mounted inside a sea container for easy transportability and user-friendliness.
Test runs on wood-based biomasses provide information on the functionality of the new pyrolysis solution and ,quality of the products and the scalability of the concept. The quality and quantity of potential products are evaluated on the basis of based on analyzes and testing for different application areas together with industrial partners. The project promotes and accelerates companies’ research-based product development work and utilization of new methods. The competence of companies develops significantly e.g. performance, safety and environmental aspects. In addition, through the project, companies will be able to assess the profitability of their operations in relation to the technological solutions for processing and their requirements in relation to the quality of the final product. The lead- companies which participate in the financing of the project use the services of local SMEs in their own subcontracting chains. The biomass processing concept to be developed in the project, new knowledge and business opportunities will thus benefit local SMEs. In principle, the solution concept can be scaled up to different size categories according to different types of products and volumes. |
| Partners | Savonia-ammattikorkeakoulu toteuttaa hanketta yhdessä Itä-Suomen yliopiston ja paikallisten yritysten kanssa.
Hankkeen varsinaiset kohderyhmät ovat pohjoissavolaiset biotalouden yritykset, palveluyritykset, toiminnanharjoittajat, maa- ja metsätalouden harjoittajat sekä oppi- ja tutkimuslaitokset. Lisäksi kohderyhmänä ovat biotalousalan toimijat laajemmin kansallisesti. Kohderyhmänä ovat kaikki biopohjaisten sivuvirtojen tuottajat sekä näiden jatkokäyttäjät. Hanke tuottaa osaltaan tietoa erityyppisille kohderyhmille kuten poliittiset päättäjät, kansalaisjärjestöt, ProAgria, MTK jne. liittyen hiilen sidontaan ja biomassojen hyödyntämiseen kestävän kehityksen mukaisesti. Hankkeessa kehitettyä osaamista ja tiivistä yritysyhteistyötä hyödynnetään myös korkeakoulujen opetuksessa. |
