Description | The digitalisation of the construction sector has been slow to progress compared to other industrial sectors. Building Information Model (BIM) technology was introduced to the construction design sector as early as the beginning of the 21st century, but the use of the technology has not yet been fully transferred to the entire production chain. In recent years, the Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) concept, which encompasses the process, has also been developed around BIM technology.
The aim of this project, coordinated by Savonia University of Applied Sciences, is to renew and improve the capabilities of actors in the construction industry in northern Savonia in digital construction production. The project is themed as a training and development project, where the focus is on practical short courses from different stages of the construction process. The aim is to create a leap in development in which company-level expertise grows so that the company can demand design models suitable for production and utilize the models in production control.
